Gold Bluffs Beach is the main beach within Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park and is a true gem of the California State Parks System.  The beach offers beautiful dunes, plenty of oceanfront beach, and pretty incredible views of not only the ocean but surrouding bluffs as well.
You can access the beach from a number of points between the entry kiosk and the Fern Canyon parking lot so there's plenty of room for everyone.  During the summer months, this beach gets crowded though.
Park info:
Made up of almost 45 percent of all of the old-growth redwood forest remaining in California, the park offers hiking and biking trails (75 miles worth!), camping, beachcombing, redwood and beach picknicking and more.  It's also home to the amazing Fern Canyon
How to get there:
Traveling north or south on Highway 101, take Davison Road west.  Davison road, which is three miles north of Orick, quickly turns into a narrow gravel road and it's 8 miles to the park entrance.
Camping info:
There are two campgrounds at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park and both are $35/night.
Gold Bluffs Beach Campground has 26 spot for RVs (24 foot max) or tent camping on a first come, first served basis.  There are no hook-ups but the grounds do offer solar showers, picnic tables, firepits and barbeques.  There are also restroom facilities and food lockers.  This campground is located in the Dunes of Gold Bluff Beach and is pretty incredible.
Elk Prairie Campground is also located in Prairie Creek State Park and has 75 family sites and sites for those hiking and/or biking through the miles of trails in the park and beyond.  The campground is open year-round and offers hot showers, picnic tables, fire pits, barbeques and food lockers.  The bathrooms are ADA Accessible.  Elk Prairie Campground is located on Newton B. Drury Parkway.
More info:
Davison Road has vehicle restrictions which we highly encourage visitors to follow.  Vehicles wider than 8', longer than 24' and trailers are prohibited.  Prairie Creek Redwood State Park has a visitor center, nature store, seasonal interpretive talks and guided walks.  For more information on Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, click HERE or visit its Website.
Other things to do in the area:
Just inside Del Norte County is Trees of Mystery; a popular destination for Northern California tourists.  To the south of the beach, Sue-meg State Park is an incredible park with a pretty amazing beach.
