While April, May and June are the best months to visit Azalea State Natural Reserve, anytime of the year is worth the trip.   There is no fee to enter the reserve and there is a self-guided trail that runs throught the 30-acre park with information that will help you learn a little about Azaleas and other North Coast plants.   Open everyday of the year from sun-up to sun-down, make your visit today!
How to get there:
From Highway 101; take the Central Avenue exit in McKinleyville.   Turn east onto North Bank Avenue and go approximately a mile.  Turn left on Azalea Drive. Azalea State Natural Reserve will be on your left.
From Highway 299; take the North Bank Avenue exit north and travel about 2 miles.  Turn right on Azalea Drive. Azalea State Natural Reserve will be on your left.

There is a picnic area available.  The Park is located on both sides of Azalea Avenue. 
Keep Humboldt Beautiful ~ Please pack out all of your garbage.
Other things to do in the area:
On the other side of Highway 101, you'll find Mad River County Park.  On the way to the park, you pass the south starting point for the Hammond Coastal Trail.   Over in Blue Lake, take a tour of the Mad River Fish Hatchery or visit the Blue Lake Museum
