There are 76 developed campsites located with Castle Crags State Park, both in the woods and along the river.  Each spot comes with a picnic table, food locker and fire ring.
Camping is year-round and on a first come, first-served basis for those without reservations; which can be made up to six months in advance. While it may not always be necessary to make a reservation, this park is very popular in the summer.
Park info:
The park, named for its 6,000-feet tall glacier-polished crags, offers swimming and fishing in the Sacramento River, hiking in the back country and views of Mount Shasta.  The park features 28 miles of hiking trails, including a 2.7 mile access trail to Castle Crags Wilderness, part of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.  The Pacific Crest Trail also passes through the park and the Castle Dome Trail within the park is one of the best hikes in the area.
