Lake Almanor, located in beautiful Plumas County, sits among the pine trees at an elevation of 4,505' and is Plumas County's largest lake. With 52 miles of shoreline (mostly forested), this 28,000-acre lake is popular with those that like to fish, boat, swim, kayak or just relax and enjoy the incredible views of the surrounding area.  
Most of the recreational opportunities are found on the west side of the lake, off of Highway 89.  There are a handful of campgrounds, boat launches, day-use areas, places to picnic and access to the water. 
How to get there:
The Lake can be found between Highways 36, 89 and 147.  Take a look at the map for your best route to get there.

The Lake Almanor Recreation Trail, which offers a variety of pretty incredible views of the lake, runs approximatley 9 miles along the western shore of the lake.
Other things to do in the area:
The Butt Valley Reservoir is another great place to spend some time on/in the water and also offers camping.
