Located just 20 minutes north of Susanville, Eagle Lake, California's second largest natural lake, is a popular fishing , camping, swimming, boating, kayaking and wildlife viewing destination that is fun for everyone.  
There are five miles of paved hiking and biking trails around the lake area, five peaceful and beautiful campgrounds and over one-hundred miles of shoreline on which to play or relax.  A day at Eagle Lake is a day well spent.   
The lake, as its name would suggest, is also a great place to spot eagles.  Other wildlife call this area home as well so don't forget your camera and/or binoculars when you visit. 

How to get there:
You can pick up Eagle Lake Road from Highway 36 just west of Susanville or from Highway 139 in Susanville.  For other ways to get there, check out the map.

There are a couple of marinas and a general store at the lake.  Click the link for information about Camping at Eagle Lake.  The lake also has a Facebook Page that they keep pretty well updated; follow it for updates. 
Other things to do in the area:
Lake Almanor and Butt Valley Reservoir near Chester are a couple of other cool places to spend a day.  In Susanville, Susanville Ranch Park is has almost 30 miles of hiking and biking trails and the Lassen Historical Museum is full of interesting information and exhibits about the area.
