Located in the beautful Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Trinity Lake and its almost 150 miles of shoreline are a Northern California treasure.
Boating, kayaking (you can rent them), swimming, camping and swimming are just some of the fun things you can while here.  If you like hiking, the area is flush with incredible trails as well.
Trinity Lake is a beautiful place to spend a day or a weekend.
How to get there:
Take Highway 299 West going toward Weaverville, passing Whiskeytown Lake.  From there, you have a couple of options.  Take a look at the map to find the best one for you.
Camping:  Yes!  Pretty amazing camping can be found all around the lake.
More info:
You're not going to find a lot in the town of Trinity Center so pack accordingly.  There is a well stocked store in town and a couple of local restaurants but that's it.
Other fun things to do in the area:
If you enjoy hiking, the nearby Tangle Blue Lake Trail is pretty amazing and the pay-off even better.
