Lassen Volcanic National Park is one of the great jewels of Northern California and is home to an incredible array of outdoor and educational opportunities.
Some of the highlights include over 150 miles of hiking & biking trails, a number of great lakes where you can go boating & fishing, plenty of camping, birdwatching & wildlife viewing, stargazing and much much more.

The park offers astronomy buffs and novices alike the opportunity to view the wonders of space from all over the park.
Boaters, hikers, campers, bikers and kayakers love the summers here and cross-country skiiers, snowshow fans and those who generally just love the snow enjoy the winters.  No matter the season, Lassen is a fun park to visit.

Camping info:
Lassen offers tent, lodge or cabin accommodations and has numerous standard, group and stock corral spots available.  Click the link for more info about Camping in Lassen Volcanic National Park.
How to get there:
Southwest Entrance (51 miles from Red Bluff off Highway 36)
(Lassen) Take Highway 36 east from Red Bluff.  Shortly after you pass through the town of Mineral, Highway 89 will be on your left; there will be signs along the highway.  The map on this page is for this entrance to the park.
Northwest Entrance (49 miles from Redding off Highway 44)
(Loomis) Take Highway 44 east from Redding.  Where Highway 44 meets with Highway 89, take 89 to the south (there will be signs).  The park entrance will be on your right.  Find a map to this entrance HERE
More info:
Entry to the park is $20 during the summer and $10 during the winter.  Season passes are the way to go if you plan on visiting more than once during the year.  Snow can affect your ability to reach these two Visitor Centers.  Call the park if the weather is questionable before you make the trip.
Fun things to do in the Park:
If you like waterfalls, be sure to check out Kings Creek Falls and Mill Creek Falls.  The short hike that takes you by Terrace, Shadow and Cliff Lakes is a great one to take.  In the northeast part of the park, heading to the top of Cinder Cone is a pretty amazing experience or kayak out in the remarkable Butte Lake
A couple of our favorite things to do at the park include the short hike to Bumpass Hell, the largest hydrothermal area in the park, and the hike to Lassen Peak which gives hikers incredible views in every direction.
