Located right off of Highway 299 and just north of McArthur, Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park is remote and unique for not only in its geological makeup but its accessibility as well.  The park is rugged, mostly covered in lava rock and only accessible by boat.  However, there are twenty miles of trails, camping, fishing and other activities that make this park a great one to visit.
How to get there:
From Highway 299 in McArthur, take Main Street north and then take a right on Rat Farm Road which will lead you to the boat launch.
Camping information:
Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park has three primitive campsites.  Visit our Camping Section for more information.
More info:
Look for freshwater springs flowing from the lava along the shoreline.  Don't forget your camera or your binoculars for the diverse wildlife that calls the park home.  We suggest good boots for hiking.
Other things to do in the area:
Just to the west is Burney Falls State Park and Fall River Mills is home to the Fort Crook Museum and Fall River Lake.  South on Highway 89, the Hat Creek Radio Observatory is an interesting visit as is the Subway Cave Lava Tube
