This is one of our favorite trails along Shasta Lake when we're looking to get some exercise.  The Clikapudi Trail offers hills, beautiful views, sunshine, fresh air and much more.
From the Jones Valley Boat Ramp parking lot, you can start the trail on either the east or west side. If you want to start off with the best views and the hills, go east.  If you want a good warm up before heading up, start with the west trailhead.
The loop is split by the road that takes you to the parking lot so at some point, regradless which way you go, you'll be waking on the road for about 100 feet until you reach the connecting point.  If you take the lower part first, go right when you reach the road and the trailhead will be on your left.  If you start east, go right when you hit the road and you'll see the trailhead on your left at the pull-out.
Distance: 7.5 Miles: Loop
Degree of Difficulty: Moderate
Dogs:  On leash only
Camping:  There is camping all around the lake, including the nearby Jones Valley Campgrounds.  Take a look at our Shasta Lake Camping section for details about nearby campgrounds.
More info:
You can start the trail at the Lower Jones Valley Campground and connect to the trail (.5 miles), making the whole loop 8.5 miles.  As you're driving out to the parking area, you'll pass a pull-out that also has a sign for the trail.  You can park/start here as well.
How to get there:
There are a few ways to get there depending on your starting point.  Check out the map for your best route.
