The Humboldt Botanical Gardens is a world-class botanical garden for the Northern California region.  The Gardens are constructed on a 44.5-acre site south of Eureka near Humboldt Bay and adjacent to the College of the Redwoods.  There are a wide variety of plants, flowers and other life that make this beautiful garden one worth visiting while on your Humboldt road trip.
How to get there: 
Traveling north on Highway 101, take the Hookton Road exit (at the bottom of the hill) to the right.  Make a left on Tompkins Hill Road.  The Botanical Gardens will be on your right once you pass College of the Redwoods.
Traveling south on Highway 101, take the Tompkins Hill Road exit.  The entrance to the Botanical Gardens will be on your left.

Head south and visit the Scotia Museum for a in-depth look at lumber life in the area.  North in Eureka, Sequoia Zoo and Sequoia Park are both awesome stops. If you're looking to take an incredible hike, check out the Punta Gorda Lighthouse Hike; it's one you won't soon forget.
