Greenwood State Beach is a nice beach within walking distance of Highway 101.  It's a short walk down to the water where you'll find plenty of room to stretch out and relax or play.  The views of the coastline are pretty sweet from bluff to beach and the beach itself is absolutely stunning.  Gunderson Rock is just off shore as is Wharf Rock and Casket Rock. 
If you're looking for a beautiful beach without the crowds, make a stop here. 
How to get there:
The parking lot for beach access is directly across from the General Store.

Other things to do in the area: 
Stop by the Artist's Collective and the Greenwood State Beach Museum in Elk. Down the coast a little is the beautiful Manchester State Park and just a bit further is Point Arena and the Point Arena Lighthouse.
