MacKerricher State Park offers a variety of habitats; beaches, bluffs, headlands, dunes, a forest and wetlands. Tidepools are along the shore and seals may be seen on the rocks off the park's coastline.
More than 90 species of birds visit or live near Cleone Lake, a former tidal lagoon located within the park and during winter and spring, whale watching is a popular activity here so don't forget your binoculars.
The park is also popular with hikers, joggers, equestrians, bicyclists, birders and general nature lovers.  Fishing is encouraged and if you like to scuba dive or snorkel, this is a great place to do so.
At the visitor center, there are exhibits & programs and plenty of picnic areas so bring some food and make a day of it.
