The park is officially in Sonoma County but sits on the Mendocino/Sonoma County line and is definitely worth a visit when you road trip from the Redding area.  
The 200-acre park offers beach access, vistas, trails (bike, walking and hiking), canoeing and kayaking access, fishing, birding and more. 
The park is really beautiful and features the Gualala River on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other giving visitors a unique combination of recreational opportunities. 
There are plenty of picnic areas around the park so bring some food, your beach toys and make a day of it while road tripping down the coast.  

How to get there:
The park is located on the west side of Highway 1; just south of Gualala.

Other things to do in the area:
Gualala has some really cool Art Galleries.  Point Arena Lighthouse and Manchester State Park are just north.
