Mendocino - Russian Gulch State Park

12301 North Highway 1

Mendocino County

This park is over 1,300 acres and features a beautiful waterfall, fantastic swimming, tidepools to explore, beachcombing, fishing and more.
Because the waters offshore of the park make up the Russian Gulch State Marine Conservation Area, the scuba diving and snorkeling here are prime.  The cove also creates a great environment for wind surfing and board surfing.
The part of the park on the east side of Highway 1 is pretty incredible with 10+ miles of hiking and biking trails as well as equestrian access.   If you have the time, take the beautiful Fern Canyon Trail and check out the park's waterfall; it's worth it.  Don't forget your camera; the photo opps here are pretty amazing.
There are plenty of picnic areas and places to hang out and relax so bring some food and take your time enjoying one of the best parks in the area.

How to get there:
Russian Gulch State Park is just off Highway 1; north of Mendocino and south of Caspar.  There will be signs along the highway to help guide you in.
More information:
Check out the Park's Website for more information.
Other things to do in the area:
Jug Handle State Reserve and Glass Beach are both wonderful parks to the north of Russian Gulch.  Navarro Beach and Navarro River Redwoods State Park to the south are great places to stop as is Gualala Point Regional Park on the Mendocino / Sonoma County border.
