Mt. Shasta - Mt. Shasta Fish Hatchery

3 North Old Stage Road

The oldest trout hatchery west of the Mississippi is in Mt. Shasta and you can take a self-guided tour from March through July to check out eggs being hatched and fry being raised.
The Mt. Shasta Fish Hatchery raises Eagle Lake Trout, Brown Trout, Brook Trout and Rainbow Trout; producing over 30 million eggs a year.
Bring some quarters for the feeding machine as the fish always seem to be hungry and it's fun watching them go crazy for handfuls of food.
There is also a trail on the grounds as is the Sisson Museum

How to get there:
From I-5 in either direction, take the Central Mount Shasta exit and go west on Lake Street. Lake Street will turn into Hatchery Lane and keep going forward until you reach the stop sign at Old Stage Road. The entrance will be right in front of you.
More info:
The Hatchery is open from 7:00am-3:30pm.  Visit the Hatchery's Website for more information.
Other things to do in the area:
