John Topits Park would be a gem in any city but Coos Bay is lucky enough to be its home.  The park features Empire Lakes which provide great fishing, relaxing and photo opportunities.  There are also over 5 miles of trails that wind through the beautiful park, a playground and a beach, right near the boat ramp. 
While you're in Coos Bay, stop by the park and take a walk through the trees and along the water; it's very peaceful.

Other things to do in the area:
While in town, visit the Coos Art Museum and the Coos History Museum (located right on the bay!).  Shore Acres, Sunset Bay and Bastendorff Beach Park are great ways to enjoy Oregon's coastal beauty.  The South Slough Reserve provides a peaceful opportunity to walk some trails and enjoy the serenity of the surrounding area.
