The Loomis Museum, located in Lassen Volcanic National Park, has an exhibit of traditional Atsugewi basketry, displays and an auditorium but it's the photos from, and other exhibits related to, B.F. Loomis that make this museum so cool.
B.F. Loomis, the museum's namesake, documented Lassen Peak's most recent eruption and the photographs are really pretty cool.
Other exhibits in the museum help explain what was happening during and after the eruption but the photographs and the equipment used to capture them are quite a cool thing to see when you visit the park.

How to get there:
The Loomis Museum will be on your right shortly after you enter the park via the north entrance.  The north entrance is just a few miles east of Shingletown; 49 miles east of Redding.
More info:
The museum may be closed due to snow during certain times of the year.  Call ahead, in the winter and spring, to make sure it's open before you try to visit.
Fun things to do while you're there:
While at Lassen, make the trip to Bumpass Hell for an exhilarating look at the park's largest hydrothermal area.  The hike to Lassen Peak is pretty incredible and swimming, kayaking and fishing in Manzanita Lake always makes for a fun day.  Visit our section on Lassen Volcanic National Park for other fun things to do while you're there.
