Located in Dunsmuir City Park, the Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens are a collection of native and woodland plants spread throughout the park. When you visit, you'll be introduced to a wide selection of perennial plants and shrubs including; rhododendrons, hostas, ferns, Japanese maples and more.
The gardens sit right near the Sacramento River and are a great place to have a picnic, fish and enjoy an afternoon.
How to get there:
Dunsmuir City Park is on Dunsmuir Avenue; just north of Siskiyou Avenue. Check out the map for more specific directions.

The park runs along the Upper Sacramento River and is closed in the winter when it snows.

In Dunsmuir, be sure to stop by the Dunsmuir Museum & Railroad Display Room and if you get thirsty or hungry, Dunsmuir Brewery Works is a short distance away. Just south of Dunsmuir is the incredible Castle Crags State Park.
