z - Crescent City - (4.3 miles; O&B) - Hatton Trail

Highway 199
Crescent City, California 95531
Del Norte County

If some highway noise doesn't bother you when hiking, the Hatton Trail is a gorgeous trail that runs along Highway 199, near the Smith River, and is worth a visit.  It's surprisingly peaceful considering how close it is to the highway.
The mix of old-growth redwoods, shrubs and other plant life make the trail seem full and dense although the trail itself is well maintained and easy to navigate.  Cut into the hillside, the trail doesn't include too much elevation gain/loss allowing hikers to enjoy the views without much effort.
This trail connects with the Hiouchi Trail so if you're looking for a longer hike, this is a great addition to your adventure.
