z - Crescent City - (4.4 miles; O&B) - Hiouchi Trail

Highway 199 or Howland Hill Road
Crescent City, California 95531
Del Norte County

We really enjoyed this trail and think you will too.  The trail runs along the gorgeous Smith River giving hikers plenty of chances to be impressed with its beauty.  There are also parts of the trail that briefly leave the river providing a different vibe as walkers pass through.  It's pretty awesome.
The trail is mostly shaded (the trees are so big and beautiful) so even on the hottest days, it's a comfortable hike that even kids will enjoy.  Don't forget your swimsuits!  It's a pretty easy trail and is manageable for anyone who is comfortable with the distance.  In the summertime, this trail can start to get pretty crowded so we suggest starting early if you're looking for some solitude.
We're looking forward to doing this one again.
