Weott - (8 miles; loop) - Bull Creek Flats Trail

Mattole Road
Weott, California 95571
Southern Humboldt

If you're looking to hike through some incredible redwoods, the Bull Creek Flats Trail is a great choice.
This loop trail takes you through some of the biggest and most beautiful trees in Humboldt County and is an easy trail to hike.  At just under 8 miles round-trip, the trail is mostly flat and well maintained.
Another cool thing about this trail is that both trail heads are at very interesting points within Humboldt Redwoods State Park.  The eastern trailhead is at Rockefeller Forest which is home to largest remaining contiguous old-growth coastal redwoods in the world while the western trailhead is located at the Big Trees Area where hikers are treated to some of the biggest coastal redwoods in the world.   It's an incredible hike from start to finish.
The hike is mostly in the shade so unless you take the hike on a warm day, a light windbreaker might come in handy.
Distance:  Just under 8 miles; round-trip.
Degree of Difficulty:  Easy; mostly flat and shaded
Dogs:  No
Camping:  There is camping very near the trail at Albee Creek Campground.
How to get there:
From Highway 101, take the Honeydew Exit which is Mattole Road.  You can park at Rockefeller Forest (see map) or continue down Mattole Road about 5 miles and park at the Big Trees Area
More info:
You can make this a one-way hike by leaving cars at Rockefeller Forest and Big Trees Area.  If you decide to do that, you can choose to take the northern or southern trail which will lead you to the same places.
