At one point, this free museum housed coast guard members who had to be ready at a moment's notice to save lives or take on other ocean related emergencies.  The building and grounds now see calmer days as a museum and picnic area which also feature walking trails and self-guided tours of the old barracks.

Don't forget your camera as the trails lead to some beautiful views of the ocean, coastal flowers and other plant life. 
Other things to do in the area:
A visit to Battle Rock Park and Cape Blanco State Park are great ways to spend an afternoon.
