There are actually three really nice short trails within the Red Bluff Recreation Area.  Each of them offers something unique, are easy trails to walk and are very family-friendly.

Sacramento River Trail - This trail runs mostly along the Sacramento River and is roughly 1.6 miles each way.  You'll see one trailhead on the right before you enter the park.  The other is in the parking lot next to the Sacramento River Discovery Center

The Levee Trail - Right before you enter the gates of the park, there is a small parking lot on the right.  This is a place you can connect to the River Trail. However, if you park there and walk across to the left side of the street, you'll see the trailhead to the Levee Trail.  This trail is about 2 miles each way and takes you around the outside of about half the park.  This trail is dirt but really easy to walk.  You can also access this trail from the Shasta View Trail.

Shasta View Trail - After you enter the park, the first parking lot you see on the left is the start of this trail.  The Levee Trail takes walkers on an outer loop of the park and the Shasta View Trail takes walkers on an inner loop of the park through some magnificent trees and open space.  It's a paved walk that offers great views.   Entrances to this trail are also near the campground and near the boat launch.

In addition to the three primary trails, there are lots of secondary trails that connect at various points with them.  We estimated that all of the trails make up about 8 miles but you could really make it as short or long as you want.

Dogs:  Yes, on leash.
Camping:  Click HERE for more information about camping at the Red Bluff Recreation Area.
How to get there:
From I-5, take the Highway 36 (Antelope Blvd) exit East.  Turn right on Sale Lane (just past Chevron on your right) and the park entrance will be a short drive down Sale Lane.
Park info:
The Sacramento River blazes right along this beautiful park in Red Bluff.  This almost 500-acre park gives guests access to walking trails, camping, fishing, boating, biking and more. From May to September, you can see migrating fish passing through the fish ladder at the fish viewing plaza.
Other fun stuff to do in the area:
Gaumer's has a really cool mineral museum that is worth a visit and is nearby.  Just to the south, in Corning, you can find world-class Olive Oil Tasting and just north of Red Bluff is the expansive and beautiful Sacramento River Bend Area which offers hiking, fishing, equestrian trails, plenty of places to picnic & relax and quite a bit more.
