Trinidad State Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Humboldt County as it has so much to offer.  This free day-use beach is easy to find right off highway 101, has plenty of parking, picnic areas and open beach space.  Kayaking, nature walks and checking out the tidepools are just a few of activities that are popular here.
On the east side of the parking lot, visitors will find the boat launch area, Old Home Beach and Trinidad Pier.  The views of the coastline are absolutely stunning.   It's also just a short walk to Memorial Lighthouse from here.
The south side offers some great hiking and amazing views via Trinidad Head; a spectacular trail with an immediate short incline that gives ways to views of the park and beyond. Trinidad Head is a great place to take a relaxing walk while trying to spot whales off in the distance.
The west side is where the beach is and it's about a 1/2 mile long.  The sunsets from here are some of the best around.
And last but not least, the north side.  The north side of Trinidad State Beach is where you'll find the HSU Marine Lab and a short path to College Cove Beach; an area that is guarded from the major winds and a nice place to swim in the right conditions.
How to get there:
From Highway 101 in either direction, take the Trinidad exit.  Take Main Street and then a left on Trinity.  Take a right on Edwards (at the 't') and follow the road down to the beach.
More info:
There are bathroom facilities at both the Boat Harbor and the north side of Trinidad State Beach.
Other things to do in the area:
Head north and spend the day visiting Fern Canyon and exploring Prairie Creek Redwoods State ParkCenterville Beach in Historic Ferndale and Table Bluff in Loleta are two other great places to enjoy the beauty of the coast.
