The camping at Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park is primitive but the beauty and peace you'll find at these grounds is pretty amazing.  There are campgrounds at North Shore Horr Pond, at Crystal Springs and near Ja She Creek.  These campgrounds are only accessible by boat so you'll want to bring everything you need with you.
Info about the park:
Located right off of Highway 299 and just north of McArthur, Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park is set against the beautiful backdrop of Mt Shasta.  The park has many places and ways to relax but overall, it's a rugged park that is mostly covered in lava rock.
How to get there:
From downtown McArthur, take Main Street north until you see Rat Farm Road.  Take Rat Farm Road to the end and you'll be at the boat launch.
More info:
Pay when you enter.  Small motorized boats are allowed but bigger boats are prohibited due to shallow water at the launch areas.
Fun things to do in the area:
While you're in/near McAurthur; visit the Fort Crook Museum.  Fall River Lake isn't too far away and neither is Burney Falls, the Hat Creek Radio Observatory or the fascinating Subway Cave
