Located next to the Lassen Historical Museum, Roop's Fort was once an emigrant station and later used as a fort during the "Sagebrush War" which was a war that started over a territorial dispute and the distribution of taxes to be collected from people in the area. 
Visitors to Susanville can now visit the fort and learn more about the role the fort played in deciding the border of California and Nevada. 
How to get there:
The Fort is located on N Weatherlow Street, just north of Main Street in downtown Susanville.

The Fort overlooks what is now Memorial ParkSusanville Ranch Park is the area's best park and has miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails.  Just outside of Susanville, enjoy the beauty and fun of Eagle Lake.
