McKinley Park is a popular park in Downtown Sacramento that features basketball courts, horseshoe pits, a jogging trail, various play areas for the kids, soccer & softball fields, volleyball and tennis courts and a swimming pool.
While you're there, be sure to stop by the community center and the jewel of the park, the McKinley Rose Garden.
Bring a picnic as the park has massive oak trees that provide plenty of shade, picnic tables and other places to relax.
How to get there:
Located in the downtown area, there are a few ways to get to the park. Check out the map for your best route. There is street parking on all four sides of the park.

Other fun things to do in the area:
Discovery Park is another big park in the area. Sutter's Fort is a really cool place to vist and Folsom Lake has lots of hiking, biking, fishing and more. The Sacramento Zoo isn't too far away and a visit to the nearby California State Railroad Museum is an interesting and fun stop in Old Town Sacramento.
