The Southern Pacific Railroad played a significant role in the history and development of the Susanville area and even though it hasn't functioned in over 50 years, the railroad and Depot continue to be an asset to the the community.
The Depot has been restored and is now a museum that will allow visitors to explore the fascinating history of the railroad in the area.  The museum is full of photographs, exhibits and other artifacts related to the railroad and early life in Susanville. 
The Depot is also home to the Susanville Chamber and is on the National Register of Historic Places. 

The railroad tracks have been transformed into the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail; an incredible 26 mile trail that runs from the Depot west to Mason Station. 
When you road trip to the area, stop by the museum and explore Susanville's past. 

How to get there:
The Depot is located on Richmond Road, south of Main Street in downtown Susanville.  Take a look at the map for more specific directions on how to get there.

It is free to enter the museum.  The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday; year-round.  Contact the Chamber for hours. 
Other fun things to do in the area:
The Lassen Historical Museum isn't too far away and is also home to Roop's FortSkyline Park has a nice, short trail as well as great views and Susanville Ranch Park has miles and miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails.
